The Church for centuries has celebrated Our Lady’s birthday on the 8th September and we remain obedient to the Church.
The first account of Our Lady’s August 5th birthday, documented by Fr. René Laurentin was in May 1984, when Jelena Vasijl asked Our Lady about celebrating it.
Our Lady said: “Throughout the centuries, I have given myself completely to you. Is it too much to give me, three days? Do not work on those days. Take your rosaries and pray. Fasting has been forgotten during the last quarter of the century, within the Catholic Church”
Gospa also said “The priests who will hear confession will have great joy on that day.”
That year, documents Fr Laurentin, Her August 5th Birthday was preceded by three days of fasting and continuous prayer and Our Lady was very joyful, she said, “I am very happy, continue, continue. Continue to pray and to fast”.
On the day itself, Our Lady said “Never in my life have I cried with sorrow, as I have cried this evening with joy. Thank you!
Continue, continue, open your hearts, ask God and I will ask for you”
Marija recounts that the prayer group decided to make a large cake for Our Lady’s birthday. The cake was beautifully decorated with candles and sugar roses. They carefully and lovingly carried the cake up to the top of Križevac at 11;30pm at night. As the apparition began, everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Our Lady.
Ivan took a sugar rose from the cake and offered it to Our Lady, she took it and began to pray with them. They were over joyed. After the apparition, they questioned if Our Lady had taken the sugar rose to Heaven. The returned to the mountain early the next morning to search for the rose, but it could not be found.
We unite with Medjugorje in offering to Our Lady on this very special day, our prayers and fasting, our joys and sorrows, our sufferings and our health for her intentions, for the greater Glory of God.
