[This true story shows the importance of prayer, because it is through prayer that we connect with God, we meet God, we have a conversation with God. Our Lady told us this in Her message last night; Before you read Colm’s story, read Our Lady’s message;]
Today I am calling you to be people of prayer.
Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High.
He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace.
Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer.
You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God.
That is why I am with you to lead you.
Do not give up on prayer.
Thank you for having responded to my call.” message of 25th August 2017.
In 1998, 7 year old Colm Cahill was hospitalised after he and his father were in a serious car crash. He began to develop seizures and at first the doctors thought it was post-traumatic shock, but then they began to be more frequent and by the age of nine, the seizures were so violent that Colm was barely conscious during them. The cocktail of about 30 tablets a day had their side effects too. Life was a misery for Colm. When Colm was 13, he had to under-go more test to measure the level of his deterioration. The results proved that the level of electrical activity form the seizures was doing untold damage and the doctors told his family that his life expectancy would be about a year or two.
By this time Colm was losing all trust in God, and questioned why would God allow this to happen, and if there was even a God. He had lost all hope
In May of that year, 2004, Fr. Peter Glas, who had ministered to Colm and visited him in hospital many times, was returning to his Presbytery and instead of taking a left turn to go home, he took a right turn and found himself outside Colm’s house. He decided to go in and tell him about his forthcoming pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Colm was between seizures so Fr. Peter asked if they could go into the garden to talk. Colm agreed, although perplexed, as he didn’t know what Fr. Peter was going to say. Fr Peter told him about a place called Medjugorje, in Bosnia-Hercegovina, where the Mother of God is appearing daily. He told Colm that he intended to go there to pray for his complete healing. He asked Colm to promise that he would pray too when he would text him to pray. Colm thought momentarily, and out of desperation, he agreed.
As promised, Fr. Peter sent Colm a text from Medjugorje, to say he was going to be present at an apparition of Our Lady to Ivan, that night on Apparition Hill at 10pm, which would be 9pm where Colm lived in Jersey. “Go into the garden and find some where quite to pray”, the message read. Fr. Peter held a photo of Colm and said to Our Lady, ‘I have prayed for this boy, the rest is up to you’. Meanwhile on the Island of Jersey, Colm arranged some candles and a Crucifix on a table, the Crucifix in the centre and three candles either side. He had a rosary beads and a book to explain how to pray it. Colm knelt at his make-shift altar and prayed the first decade of the Rosary he had ever prayed.
It was windy and rather noisy from the traffic on the main road, but at 9pm everything stilled itself, there was no traffic and no wind, it was apparition time- Our Lady was coming on Earth. In that moment, Colm, from the depths of his heart cried out ‘’Help me.’’ One by one from left to right, the candles he had lit extinguished, and something happened, any overwhelming presence of peace enveloped his being and the pain in his muscles and constant headaches from his seizures ceased. In that instant he was completely healed, although he didn’t know it.
The following day he received a text message from Fr. Peter saying that Our Lady said that she had prayed for all the sick present and the intentions for the sick of those present. Fr Peter was unaware of the extent of the healing and continued to pray for him. He had his photo blessed by Fra. Jozo Zovko and brought it to every Holy Mass and Adoration and finally he left the photo up at the place where Fra. Slavko Barbarić died on Križevac.
The days free of seizures and all the complications, turn into months and the months turned into years. Colm went to Medjugorje the year after his healing to give Glory to God and Blessed Mother. On the anniversary of his healing, 21st May 2005, Fr. Peter Glas celebrated Holy Mass in Medjugorje in thanksgiving and Colm was present.
Colm was ordained a Priest on the 3rd June this year in New Orleans
PLEASE REMEMBER FR. PETER AND FR. COLM IN YOUR PRAYERS
